Obituary

Robert E. Heaps (Bob) passed away at age 77 on January 19, 2024 with his wife of 49 years and 3 of his daughters by his side. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Mildred Heaps, his son Robert Patrick Heaps, and Mother-in-Law Marlene Silotti. He leaves his wife Becky and children Tracy, Kelly (Jami,) Misty (Ernie,) Teddy, and Amy (Rob.) 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, along with 6 of his bothers and sisters and numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends. Bob was born on January 9, 1947. The second son and first born twin to sister Randie. Eleven months later the 3 were joined by another set of twins brothers this time, and then two more children join the now rather large family over the next few years. With seven young Heaps kids around there was always enough people to play sports; basketball and baseball being Bobs favorites. Bob graduated from Bountiful High School in 1965. He spent the majority of his career in sales and retired from the Homedepot in 2020 after 23 years. While working there he met and befriended many fellow employees and repeat customers. Aside from his wife, children, and grandchildren Bob’s favorite past time was spent fishing at pass lake in the Unita Mountains in Utah, but any lake or stream would do. He was very proud that he taught all 6 of his children to fish and was able to take all his grandchildren fishing in 2015. To Bob telling fish tales was almost as good as fishing, and if you’ve ever been blessed to hear one of his fish tales you’ll remember how passionate and animated he became. You may also recall how each retelling got longer and longer; as did the fish! Bob had a deep passion for the books The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings by the great J.R.R. Tolkien, and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling another niche he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Bob was a kind, loving generous man who always gave more than he took. The lessons he taught and the love he gave will live on, and we all know he’s scoping out the best fishing spots in heaven!

His official obituary will appear in the Deseret News on January 24th or it can be read here https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/robert-heaps-obituary?id=54159296&utm_source=copiedlink&utm_medium=ppn_confirmation&utm_campaign=share&utm_content=ppn_obit#guestbook
