James Finney

James Patrick Finney, of Christiansburg, Virginia but native of Detroit, Michigan passed away in his home October 06, 2026.

He was born in Dearborn, Michigan on July 11, 1955 to his parents Margaret (Roza) and Clarence Finney. He is a loving devoted father to his children Samantha and Jeremy Finney. He was blessed to be a grandfather to three little ones, A'Vona, Aniyah, and Saviour. He is preceded in death by his siblings Mary, Bob, and Michael. He is survived and will be missed by his siblings John, Richard, and Joanie. Anyone who came across Jim, came to love him. He had many work friends at Cleveland Cliffs who were more like family to him. He loved nature and took in the scenery every chance he got. He loved to fish, chase storms, feed the deer, and watch the stars. He was fascinated with space and the unknown. Anyone who knew Jim, knew he loved to work, brag about his kids and grandkids and learn new things. Jim was a joke teller... So good that sometimes you think he was telling a real story, until the punchline hits and you realize you were so invested in a joke. Jim was an inspiration, a walking storybook and a teacher to anyone who was willing to listen and learn something new. He loved history and learning as much as he would about the wars. My father always said, "Life isn't a thrill a minute." You have to take the good with the bad and make the best of it. James lived a long, happy, fulfilled life and when his time came, he let go peacefully. He will be truly missed by many.

At my father's request there will not be a viewing or funeral service. He wanted to have a quick and private cremation.
