Obituary

Captain John James Frizzell (USAF/sep), 44, of Sacramento, California, a cherished father to Rachel, Rebecca, and John, passed away unexpectedly on November 4, 2023. Born on December 17, 1978, in San Clemente, California, to Pam Frizzell, he spent his formative years in San Antonio, Texas, with his mother and younger brother, Mike Frizzell. John graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in Schertz, TX, in May 1997, and went on to attend Angelo State University (ASU), earning his commission to the United States Air Force on May 10, 2002.

Obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice and a supporting concentration in Biology, John was an active member of the Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) and held various roles in his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha, including Vice President and the school mascot, 'Roscoe.' He was also engaged in the San Angelo community as the mascot for the San Angelo Outlaws, an American minor professional ice hockey team.

John honorably served in the United States Air Force as a Security Forces officer from June 2002 to September 2006. His assignments included serving as Shift Commander at Randolph AFB (San Antonio, TX) and, subsequently, at Beale AFB (Yuba County, CA). In these roles, he provided vigilant force protection for bases, including safeguarding significant assets such as reconnaissance aircraft, a KC-135 fleet, and Space Commands Phased Array Warning System.

Following his military service, John joined the California Highway Patrol (CHiP) in April 2007, where he played a vital role in responding to law enforcement calls, conducting criminal investigations, and ensuring traffic enforcement and highway safety. Subsequently, he explored diverse career opportunities, working as an Internet/Fleet Sales Manager, a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agent, and finally, as a Security Specialist with the Army Corps of Engineers.

John will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. His enduring friendships and warm smile will be remembered with love.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Sarah Frizzell, their three children Rachel Lynn, Rebecca Faith, and John Matthew, his mother Pamela Frizzell, his brother Michael Frizzell, sister-in-law Shayna, niece Kimber, nephew Jacob, and many other family members and cherished friends. A memorial service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, Shelter #2, San Antonio, TX 78209, on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11:15 AM.
