Obituary

Linda Sue Lancioni, 84, of Holland MI, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024.

She was born on March 5, 1939, in Boonville Indiana to the late Marvin Dike and Wilma Dike (McCool). She was the 2nd of 4 children: Sharon (deceased), Darlene and Charles (deceased). She is survived by her husband of 60 years Dennis Lancioni (Holland, MI), her son Mike Lancioni (Michigan City, IN), two granddaughters Elena Lancioni (Fort Collins, CO) & Lauren Lancioni (Chicago, IL) and sister Darlene Hubster (Huntingburg, IN).

Linda grew up in the 1940’s on a small family farm in Dale Indiana where she helped her dad on the farm by harvesting corn, bagging beans, and driving the tractor as she got older. After she graduated from high school, she went to work at Holland Dairy making ice cream to save money so she could attend beautician school. In 1958, she applied for a job at H&P Wasson department store in Indianapolis and worked in the beauty department. Her best friend, Fern, who she had known since grade school and is still her best friend to this day would say “Friends are flowers, in the garden of life.”

Always active, she was a preschool teacher, worked at Hunter Pharmacy and then spent many years at Delta Faucet in Greensburg, IN. Later in life she worked at Buffalo Trace Distillery when residing in Frankfort, KY, one of her favorite roles. She never missed an Indiana University Basketball game on television and enjoyed College Basketball overall. She travelled extensively across the USA and enjoyed meeting new people at every opportunity. She loved all animals, and in particular Golden Retrievers. Linda was an avid baker and made some of the best pies you ever had! She was a loving wife to Husband Dennis and the best Mother ever to her son Mike. Linda cherished spending time with family and especially her granddaughters Elena & Lauren. She was a remarkable and generous woman that always had a kind word and warm support for everyone she met, frequently visiting her favorite stores just to say hello to her friends she had met that worked there. She was always upbeat and positive and looked for the best in all people and situations.

Her granddaughters called her Memaw a couple of the many lessons she passed on to them was to always persevere and do the best you can in all situations and stay focused. She frequently told her son and granddaughters on a regular basis “Enjoy Life, Every Day is a Wonderful Day”. So true. We can all honor Linda and her memory by doing our best to follow this simple example. She will be missed by so many.

Cremation will take place. There will be no service, rather take that time to spend it with your family and friends and bring about positivity as Linda always did.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Hospice Foundation of America through a GoFundme campaign established in Linda’s honor. These amazing people provided caring comfort to Linda and many others: https://gofund.me/b4f60e0e
